A Note on My Work Samples

Why my current professional work isn't included, and how these samples were prepared.

Why my recent work isn’t included

Most of the instructional design work I’ve done in my current role is proprietary. The courses, training modules, and internal documentation I build belong to my employer. Many of them also include internal systems, product roadmaps, customer data, or unreleased content that I’m contractually bound to keep confidential. Sharing them, even in excerpt, would break that obligation. I’d hold the same standard with any organization I join.

What I’m sharing instead

My samples come from a full design project I completed in my Instructional Design and Technology graduate program at the University of South Carolina. It takes one real performance problem through every phase of design, from needs assessment to a working prototype and an evaluation plan.

Sample What it shows
Instructional Design Document: Locating the Correct Course ID Needs assessment with survey data, goal/learner/context analysis, task analysis, performance objectives with aligned assessment items, instructional strategy, and a formative evaluation plan
eLearning Course: Locating the Correct Course ID A self-paced course with a job-aid checklist, step-by-step demonstrations, knowledge checks with feedback, and a scored posttest

The project addressed a real problem on a real team: specialists were starting work in the wrong course record nearly 30% of the time. To keep that organization’s information private, I prepared these samples the same way I would handle any confidential work:

Talking about my current work

I’m glad to talk through my professional work in an interview at a level that respects confidentiality. That includes the problems I’ve solved, the processes and tools I use, how I work with subject matter experts and stakeholders, and the results I’ve measured. I’m also happy to complete a short design exercise or sample task if that would help you evaluate my skills.
